Day 1 of the 7 Days Uganda Gorilla Safaris Tour: Fly from Entebbe to Pakuba Airstrip
Our company representative will meet you at Entebbe International Airport on your arrival and transfer you to your private charter at 08:0am to Pakuba Airstrip in Murchison Falls National Park. On arrival at Pakuba, you will be welcome by our your safari guide who will transfer you game viewing along the way to Paraa Safari lodge. Murchison falls National Park derived its name from the Murchison falls where the mighty River Nile explodes through a narrow gorge and flows down to become a placid river whose banks are thronged with hippos, crocodiles, waterbucks and buffaloes. The vegetation is characterized by Savannah, riverine forest and woodland. Wild life includes lions, Uganda kobs, chimpanzees and many bird species including the rare shoebill.
After checking in and having sometime to relax, you will go for an afternoon boat trip along the Nile. This is often cited as being the highlight of a trip to Murchison since it allows you to get up-close and personal with the animals. Along this stretch of the river, there are reported to be around 4,000 hippos in addition to some enormous Nile crocodiles. The bird life is stunning with brightly colored kingfishers and bee-eaters darting along the riverbanks. If lucky, you may see the rare and prehistoric looking shoebill, which is a cross between the dodo and a dinosaur. The boat takes you to the base of the falls which only adds to their impressiveness.
Day 2 of the 7 Days Uganda Gorilla Safaris Tour: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kaniyo Pabidi
After breakfast, we will go for a morning Chimpanzee tracking in Kaniyo Pabidi Forest. This is an undisturbed area of natural forest within Budongo Forest Reserve where you can walk beneath mature mahogany and iron wood trees. Chimpanzee tracking is the most famous activity. You will certainly see many forest birds, including the chocolates-backed Kingfisher, the white-thigh hornbill and puvel’s illadopsis found nowhere else in East Africa.
In the afternoon, you will relax by the side of the pool and should you have the energy this afternoon, your guide will take you for a late afternoon game drive. Among the creatures you should see are Rothschild giraffe, buffalo, lion, elephant as well as several species of antelope.
Day 3 of the 7 Days Uganda Gorilla Safaris Tour: Fly from Pakuba to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, your safari guide will transfer you to Pakuba Airstrip to meet your private charter plane to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Queen Elizabeth is host to a large variety and volume of wildlife. It boasts one o the highest bio diversity ratings of any game park in the world, from the open Savannah to Rain forest, dense swamps and beautiful crater lakes to the vastness of Lake Edward. Almost 100 species that include Hippos, Lions, Buffaloes, Leopard, Spotted Hyena and the elusive giant forest hog. The primates include Chimps, Black and white Colobus Monkeys, Blue, Black Faced Red Colobus, and Red Tailed monkeys and Olive Baboons.
After checking in and having some time to relax, you will go for an afternoon boat trip along the Kazinga Channel. This will give you the opportunity to view wildlife up close: hippo’s huff and spray mere feet away from the boat, buffalo linger in the shallows. The shores of the channel are also home to an array of birds including pink backed pelicans, pied and malachite kingfishers, saddle billed stork and many others. After this wonderful afternoon, a slow drive back to the lodge.
Day 4 of the 7 Days Uganda Gorilla Safaris Tour: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kyambura Gorge
This morning we will leave for the 08.00am chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge. Expect to see various primates most especially Chimpanzee of different species, Black and white Colobus monkeys and other animals like antelopes, hyenas, Lion and many others in the middle of savanna grassland. This gorge is a home of very many bird species.
If you have the energy, you will go for an evening game drive to the Kasenyi Area of the Park. Here you will be able to see numerous elephants as well as water hog, lion, hyena, Uganda kob, waterbuck and bushbuck as well as the salt lakes.
Day 5 of the 7 Days Uganda Gorilla Safaris Tour: Fly from Mweya Airstrip to Bwindi Forest
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Mweya Airstrip to meet your private charter plane to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park-home of the mountain gorillas. Bwindi is a habitat to 326 Gorillas almost half of the Worlds population of Mountain Gorillas. The forest has about 30 elephants and 120 species of mammals including 7 diurnal primates. 360 species of birds and over 200 species of butterflies. This Afro -montane forest has dense under storey of fern, vines, and shrubs. About 324 tree species have been recorded here, of which 10 don’t occur else in Uganda. Tonight you will sleep to the sounds of the mountain rainforest!
After checking and having some time to relax, your guide will take you for a guided forest walk on the Munyaga River trail, which is an ideal short walk. This trail leads to three delightful crystal clear waterfalls, and there is a profusion of tree ferns, epithytic ferns, orchids and Bwindi’s colorful array of butterflies. Here you may also see birds and primates from the forest edge
Day 6 of the 7 Days Uganda Gorilla Safaris Tour: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Forest
You will rise relatively early for a hearty breakfast to give you the energy needed for gorilla tracking. Report to the ranger station at 08.00 am where the guides will take you through the forest, slashing at the undergrowth, parting thick creepers, to track gorillas. This trek can take from half an hour to five hours so a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes. You sit in the forest among the gorillas listening to them grumble at each other and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male, the silverback. It is amazing to think that there are only 650 or so of these creatures left in the world!
If you have the energy this afternoon, you will go for a village walk and see how Ugandans people leave!
Day 7 of the 7 Days Uganda Gorilla Safaris Tour: Fly to Entebbe
Following a morning breakfast, you will be transferred to Kayonza Airstrip to meet your private plane to Entebbe International Airport.
